The Foundation of YOUR Wedding Make-up!
Foundation Selection and Tips
There are so many things to remember when planning your wedding that it may appear overwhelming and almost discouraging. Well, not to add to the pile of magazine cutouts for hairdo's, flowers, and dresses, it's equally important that you take time to research the make-up you plan to wear on your wedding day. Remember: you have to look at your pictures for years to come. If your make-up isn't what you would normally wear, don't buy it. What may be chic and trendy for the week may not be the same three years from now. This section is designed to help you, the bride, capture the look you're trying to strive for on your wedding day.
Do: Give skin a warm glow by using a bronzing powder. Skin that is already tan will be more bronzed whereas skin with a paler tone will appear healthier and radiant.
Don't: Select a foundation in improper lighting. Make sure the right shade is selected by applying foundation on a small area of the jaw bone and neck. Wait a couple of minutes after application to ensure the foundation is absorbed into the skin.
Do: Find out the return policy for purchasing beauty products. A lot of places will not take back merchandise for beauty care that has been opened.
Don't: Rely on foundation to cover any impurities such as acne ( We hope not!), veins, and blemish scarring. Use a concealer on those troublesome areas first then apply the foundation over it. For more severe imperfections, another application of concealer over the foundation may be necessary. Caution: Concealer is not to be confused with foundation. The phrase "a little dab will do ya" is very applicable!
Do: Apply foundation stroking outward from your nose toward your hairline. Tugging down on your skin will only make the area eventually sag. When applying foundation on your neck, sweep upward with the applicator or your fingertips.
Don't: Just buy drug store foundation. Carefully research the foundation selection available including the ingredients used. There are so many different brands available that it's important to educate yourself on your selection.
Do: Buy a foundation that is accustomed to your skin type. If your skin is oily, purchase a foundation that is oil-free.
Don't: Forget to properly blend the foundation into your skin and neck. Wearing the "mask" look where the foundation stops at the jaw line will only create a fake look to your skin's natural beauty.
Do: Remember to place a towel over your face and neck when putting on your wedding gown. This will prevent your foundation from transferring on to your dress.
